THE JIM GILCHRIST MUSIC MAKER AWARD

Jim Gilchrist, Antrim’s very own famous blues musician, served as MADD’s initial Chairperson and played a key role in all aspects of its formative steps in becoming an established community music organisation. Following his untimely death in 2005, MADD in conjunction with the Gilchrist family, honour his legacy through this special award, bestowed annually on a local musician who has demonstrated a significant level of achievement in their chosen area. The recipient will be announced at the Festival Finale in the Park Plaza Hotel where they will receive a specially commissioned perpetual trophy, the Jim Gilchrist Music Maker Award, along with a bursary sponsored by MADDENS Bar in Antrim.

Last year’s recipient of the Jim Gilchrist Music Maker Award was Janine McMeekin.
